I grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania with my mother and grandmother. I was a first generation college student and paid my own way through school. I received a Bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College, a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from University of Colorado, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from University of Utah. Growing up in a culture that was very different from my own led to my interest and passion for multicultural counseling and women’s issues. That is why I decided to focus my degree specialty in those two areas. I have over 10 years post Master's degree clinical experience as a therapist.
I have presented at various national and international professional conferences on the topics of: Body Politics; Feminist Multicultural Counseling for Individuals, Groups, and Substance Abuse; Feminist Multicultural Mentoring; and my dissertation: "Housework, childcare, and inequality." In addition, I am a trained sexual assault advocacy counselor.
In my spare time I enjoy singing, cooking, drinking coffee, aerobics, and watching movies and critiquing them.
